Exemption for Oldies From P11D Tax Liability in Retirement

A reminder to readers who retired from employment before 6 April 1998.
Some blue chip employers continue to provide P11D benefits-in-kind to retired employees – private and medical insurance is the most common. Since 6 April 1998, those benefits have been liable to tax. But they are exempt from tax – indeed any other similar benefit is also exempt - if a person retired before 6 April 1998.

A modest relief for an older generation but one well worth having nevertheless.
